California Dreamin'

“All the leaves are brown,
And the sky is grey.
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day,
I'd be safe and warm
If I was in LA.
California dreamin'
On such a winter's day”
~ The Mamas & The Papas

Stoned Immaculate Vintage is one of the best loved online vintage stores. Filled to the brim with hugely covetable pieces from the 1960s and 1970s, it is a treasure trove of fashion’s very groovy past.

It came as no surprise in 2015 when, off the back of such success, founder Chloe Chippendale partnered with designer Elliot Hans to create her own ready-to-wear collection of retro-inspired pieces. Called Stoned Immaculate: The Label, the line was created in the canyons of Los Angeles, and echoes California's golden era. Drawing inspiration from old photographs, books, and films, the Brand creates designs that will undoubtedly become future vintage treasures.

The hero piece from their latest collection is this retro, 1970s style sweater. Reminiscent of a beautiful California sunrise, it gives a playful nod to the decade’s effortless glamour, and is the perfect remedy for those lingering Winter blues.

Green Piece

“The dawn was apple-green,
The sky was green wine held up in the sun,
The moon was a golden petal between.
She opened her eyes, and green
They shone, clear like flowers undone
For the first time, now for the first time seen.”
~ D H Lawrence

This is the second piece I’ve bought from Rat & Boa (I blogged about the very beautiful ‘Anja’ dress here), and even as I ordered that dress, I knew I would go back to get the equally gorgeous ‘Margeaux’ jacket at some point. Cut from luxurious, textured silk, this tuxedo style robe features a beautiful Oriental print set against a bold, emerald green background. It’s the perfect layering piece, and the Designers really hit the nail on the head when they described it as “part Bourgeois, part vintage dream”.

A wearable, eclectic, very cool piece, it can be worn open for a laid back look, or the belt can be tied to add structure, for a more sophisticated look. It’s something I can wear with denim shorts in the Summer (my favourite way to wear it), or I can throw it over a little black dress for a seriously sexy date night outfit.

I kept my look very simple here; I teamed the jacket with black skinny jeans, a black tee, an embellished Manley bag, classic black Louboutin heels, and a fantastic initial necklace by Irish jewellery brand Edge Only. The result is a cool, modern look, that gives a little nod to the 70s boho vibe I love so much. It’s the perfect daytime, nighttime, anytime look.
