Navy & Clay

"Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say,
more important offices than to merely keep us warm.
They change our view of the world
and the world's view of us."
~ Virginia Woolf

This look featured in Emma Manley's A/W13 Lookbook. I fell in love with the way the two pieces were styled together and snapped both up immediately. Although from a previous season, the magick of Manley is that I am still wearing them; both together, and with pieces from subsequent collections. I know for sure that I will also be wearing them with Emma's latest collection.

The 'Elsie' shirt has one of the cool leather Peter Pan collars that are so synonymous with Manley; they have become part of my signature look. The navy silk bodice adds a sensuous touch of glamour to a very edgy piece.

The 'Hive' skirt, in a wonderfully neutral clay colour, is knee length and slightly flared. It has a leather panel to the front, an elasticated waistband and secret pockets to the side.

I finished my outfit off with a great pair of leopard print shoes by Alexander Wang. I love this look, it is simple, it is effortless and it is cool.

Rapt In Plaid

"O! The bonny Tartan plaid,
The ancient Highland Tartan plaid;
For gallant youth, and lovely maid,
O! Well becomes the Tartan plaid"
~ Joseph Depinna

Good ol' Toppers came up trumps once again with this cute little sweater. A little bit sporty, a little bit preppy, it is a great way to wear plaid without looking like you're about to break into a Highland fling. Made from a soft knit wool, it features squares of patterned check to the front and back, a round neckline and long navy sleeves with a cool sporty trim to the neck, cuffs and hemline.

I've worn this Topshop sweater with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, denim cut-offs and as shown here, with a cute, girlie mini skirt. My red Maje skirt is a firm favourite; I've already blogged it here & here and I'm sure it will feature in many more posts as it not only goes with everything, it is also fantastically comfortable to wear.

My favourite Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes & a big smile to distract myself from the Baltic weather finished this look off perfectly!

The Life Of Rylie

"I don't mind, I get the feeling
you'll be fine, I still believe that
in this world, we've got to find the time
for the life of Rylie"
~  The Lightening Seeds

'Rylie' is a very cool shirt from Emma Manley's AW14 collection. Available in three colourways (orange, black and teal), I treated myself to the orange one. I couldn't resist it. Actually, I couldn't resist the black one either, but that's for another blog post!

I love wearing orange. It is known to be a stress reducing colour, the mixture of the two primary colours, red and yellow, making us feel safe, warm and mellow. It is the colour of our emotions and our sensuality.

Orange 'Rylie', a billowing, double-layered shirt is made from the softest, most sensual silk; the under layer is semi-fitted and sits at the hip, while the outer layer is flared and sits at the waist. It has 3/4 length sleeves and an orange/gold button detail down the front that adds a luxurious touch.

Paired with a great pair of skinny jeans, an over-sized nude colour clutch & funky leopard print shoes, this is a super-cool outfit; absolutely perfect for a fun date night!
