"Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say,
more important offices than to merely keep us warm.
more important offices than to merely keep us warm.
They change our view of the world
and the world's view of us."
and the world's view of us."
~ Virginia Woolf
This look featured in Emma Manley's A/W13 Lookbook. I fell in love with the way the two pieces were styled together and snapped both up immediately. Although from a previous season, the magick of Manley is that I am still wearing them; both together, and with pieces from subsequent collections. I know for sure that I will also be wearing them with Emma's latest collection.
The 'Elsie' shirt has one of the cool leather Peter Pan collars that are so synonymous with Manley; they have become part of my signature look. The navy silk bodice adds a sensuous touch of glamour to a very edgy piece.
The 'Hive' skirt, in a wonderfully neutral clay colour, is knee length and slightly flared. It has a leather panel to the front, an elasticated waistband and secret pockets to the side.
I finished my outfit off with a great pair of leopard print shoes by Alexander Wang. I love this look, it is simple, it is effortless and it is cool.
