Pop Art

Andy Warhol's iconic work of art '32 Soup Cans' was produced in 1962 and consists of 32 canvases (32 was the number of soup varieties sold by Campbell's at the time), with each painting resting on a shelf as cans would in a supermarket. Warhol's work initially proved to be unpopular; his 'pop art' offended the art worlds sensibilities & to this day continues to be controversial and topical. Personally I love his simplistic serial imagery that single handedly changed the concept of art appreciation.

The Pepe Jeans Andy Warhol collection is steeped in cool, retro pop culture and is the perfect mix of art, music and fashion. The collection features iconic Warhol images such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Cars, Lips and of course the Campbell's Soup Cans, arguably his most recognisable image.

The 'Brenda S' dress was a birthday present from my best friend; it is just too fabulous! It features 80s style bat-wing sleeves, a round neckline, an unexpected deep v-back, zip detail to the back and an all over print of the iconic Soup Cans against a light pink background.

I styled the dress with a fabulous pair of silver shoes from Zara, Chanel sunnies & my go-too silver Tiffany trinkets for a cool, retro look.

The Who? What? Wear?

A few weeks ago, we were in the London branch of the Maje store and my lovely Husband bought me a very cool outfit (blogged here). While I was there, this beautiful shirt dress caught my eye & I suspected I would be back at some point to buy it. I soon returned and was delighted to find that the dress was in the sale with a whopping 50% off!

It's first outing was to the O2 in London to see legendary rock band The Who in action. The gig was absolutely amazing and my dress was so comfortable and easy to wear. It certainly got noticed! So much so, I now have a golden rule regarding what not to wear when attending gigs; do not wear an outfit that partially exposes your back as you WILL be groped!

Groping aside, I loved wearing my new dress. Made of 100% silk, in a delicious shade of teal, the dress features two front pockets, military style epaulets, three-quarter length sleeves with button cuffs, a high/low hem and a sexy, playful (now rather infamous!) open back that takes it from formal to fabulous!

I styled the dress with big, bold Dior heels. These are firm favourites, very Carrie Bradshaw. They go with everything & despite the towering 5 inch heel, are surprisingly comfortable to wear, even whilst shakin' my booty alongside rock gods Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey et al; altogether now "Whooo are you! Who who, who who"!

La Luna

In ancient Roman religion and myth, the Goddess Luna is the divine embodiment of the Moon. Such a magical name is quite perfect for this dreamy, romantical piece from Winter Kate's beautiful S/S13 collection.

The Luna bed jacket, in a delicate blue snakeskin print, is 100% silk and features an open front with draping detail, a contrast lemon print back panel, an asymmetric hem and wide dolman sleeves. It represents the Winter Kate aesthetic perfectly.

Paired with denim shorts, a simple white tee and casual shoe boots, this is the kind of modern Boho outfit I live in throughout the Summer.

Lookin' For You

Emma Manley's S/S13 collection is called "Lookin' For You". It was inspired by every girls search for love and captures the spirit of Manley perfectly. The collection is full of cool contemporary separates, featuring soft jersey basics, metallics, leather skirts and dresses, many of them featuring a fierce studded detail for a very rock & roll edge.

This perforated leather & silk panelled skirt is one of my favourite pieces from the collection; embellished with dome shaped studs, it is the epitome of cool. I love the contrasting panels; tough but girlie, soft but hard, it is both sexy and sophisticated.

I paired the skirt with another Manley piece, a beautiful champagne coloured jersey tee. This versatile top has metallic leather shoulder panels that also feature the great stud detail. I finished the look off with Topshop shoe boots.

This is the only time in my life that I shamelessly tried to copy a Designer's Lookbook look almost completely; if it ain't broken etc etc. I absolutely love it!

Poupee

The beautiful 'Poupee' dress is my favourite piece from Twenty8twelve's fabulous pre-Fall13 collection. It had only just hit the store when I snapped it up and it is already selling out fast!

Poupee means doll or poppet and it's a very apt name for this delicate, girly piece. A beautiful boho style dress, it features short sleeves, pleats at the waist, a fabulous contrast embroidery in blue throughout and scalloped edges for a delicate finish. It has a very relaxed fit & looks beautiful worn loose and flowing or styled with a belt for a slightly more structured look.

I chose to style the dress with a belt for this Blog post. It's an old, much loved leather belt from one of Twenty8twelve's very first collections. I wore a cool pair of See by Chloe peep-toe shoe boots to add a tougher edge to the dress & finished the look off with a great red satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Co.
