Hiding Cat

"Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw;
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law."
~ T. S. Eliot

The cute Hiding Cat print featured strongly in Karen Walkers 2014 Resort Collection; there was a cool tshirt, a cozy jumper & a cute-as-button tshirt dress. This season sees the print return on limited edition bags and purses.

It was the cute tshirt dress I fell in love with & I was absolutely delighted when it arrived in the post the other day; a lovely gift from friends in New Zealand! The dress has a relaxed fit and features a scoop neck, zip closure to the back and the sweet hiding cat print to the front.

Styled with multi-strap shoes and a red satchel, this is my first venture into my Spring wardrobe this year and God it felt good to ditch the tights & feel some much needed sunshine on my legs!

Faster Better and Stronger

My band Alter Ego was recently booked to perform at the 30th Anniversary celebrations for iconic 80s TV series Robin Of Sherwood (remember when it was the law to love the Hooded Men Michael Praed & Jason Connery?) and I wanted something new and green (the green bit was particularly important, obviously) to wear for such a cool gig.

This beautiful Karen Millen shift dress, in the brands signature stretch fabric, was perfect! A figure caressing style that sculpts a flawless silhouette, the dress features sexy cut-outs at the shoulders, zip closure to the back and a stunning, dramatic splash print (in green) that I knew would stand out on stage. Such a stunning dress deserved equally stunning accessories so I styled it with classic Christian Louboutin peep-toe shoes and a statement clutch bag from Kiwi Designer Karen Walker.

Karen Walker's Fall 2014 collection was inspired by the way New Zealand's Suffragettes printed their messages on dresses, bags and even on money; making a statement without having to say a word. The limited edition 100% leather clutches read “Young Willing and Eager”, “Hello and Goodbye”, “Liberal Miserable and Cynical" & “Faster Better and Stronger”. I chose the latter slogan as it struck a chord with me and perfectly describes the me I am today. I am faster. I am better. I am stronger.

The outfit was perfect for the Robin Of Sherwood gig; comfortable, green (the important bit) and a little bit sexy. We played our way through two energetic sets, watching actors I adored as a youngster and so many of their wonderful, enthusiastic fans dancing to our music all night long. It was wonderful; the trippiest gig ever! As Robin and his Merries would say, "Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten".

Spice Up Your Life

This fabulous dress is by New Zealand Designer Karen Walker. Cut in a loose, flattering shape, it features a round neckline with subtle pleat detail and dramatic puff sleeves that create a beautiful silhouette. It simply slips on & sits just above the knee. This dress however, is all about it's vibrant orange hue. It makes quite a statement!

They say you should put some orange in your life when you want to spice things up; orange is a power colour, a healing colour, and wearing it is said to balance your emotions in times of stress and shock. Dramatic and dynamic for sure, it is much more gentle and easier to wear than the fiery heat of red.

I styled the dress with a cool pair of Tiger print Louboutin's and some lovely accessories; a feather clutch from ASOS and beautiful, delicate jewellery by Alex Monroe. My wonderful Husband commissioned Alex to make the Daisy Chain bracelet for me. Such a romantic surprise; it is a real treasure & I absolutely adore it! And of course, I simply had to include a photo of my Karen Walker doll who is wearing the very same fabulous dress!

We had an interesting Blog shoot for this dress, in gale force winds that literally seemed to be trying to undress me! So forceful was the wind, it actually tore the hem of my dress; thank goodness I have a great Tailor!

Hello Sailor!

The nautical trend reappears season after season. And it's no wonder: a navy & white nautical stripe is a great way to achieve a simple, fresh Summer look.

I went for a very feminine approach to the trend here, wearing a beautiful silk dress by my favourite New Zealand Designer Karen Walker. The navy blue & crisp white stripes look clean, chic & classic! I paired them with a very neutral, tan coloured sandal from Reiss.

Staying faithful to the trend, I finished the look off with a bright red MAC lipstick from their Hey! Sailor limited edition range. Even the gorgeous packaging is right on trend!
